Summary

Chapter 9

When Ethan wakes up, his left leg is burning in pain. Beverly explains she had to cut something out of it –a microchip, which allows them to track people. The mausoleum they are currently in deflects the signal, but the signal can be tracked to within a hundred yards of where it is dropped. Ethan tells her that when he got into a car crash, it was September 24, 2012, and the President is Barack Obama. For Beverly, the President is Ronald Reagan. Beverly explains that the people of town are told to live in the moment. Politics, culture, all of it is discouraged, except for what already exists in town –and the money used is from the 1950s and 1960s. There are no calendars, no newspapers, and Beverly has only been able to keep track of time because she has kept a journal...
