Summary

In Chapter 22, Mila dreams about Matthew and Gil. In her dream they are sitting on a tree branch together. Matthew falls off into a pond. Mila screams that Matthew can’t swim but Gil says he can breathe under water. When Mila wakes and thinks through her dream she wonders why it had taken her so long to realize what the dream was trying to tell her. She thinks about how Gil hasn’t been very worried about Matthew. She knows that when Gil is worried he can’t sleep but that he has slept fine during their time in America. She comes to the conclusion that Gil isn’t worried about Matthew because he knows his friend isn’t in real danger.
