Summary

In Chapter 8, Pet appears, and Jam telepathically accuses it of showing off for Redemption, who grabs Jam's hand and stares. Redemption says “shit” several times and jumps when Pet points out that Redemption uses that word “a lot.” Pet allows Redemption to examine him for a while. Jam explains that Pet can be invisible to others, meaning it will accompany them to the library. However, when they begin walking to the library, Redemption continues to turn to stare at Pet, prompting Pet and Jam to decide it will be less conspicuous if Pet is also invisible to Redemption.

At the library, Ube questions them about the kinds of research they are doing. Redemption says they are looking for information about identifying monsters. At Pet's prompting, Jam secretly signs that they are looking for “family monsters,” which immediately makes Ube concerned. He asks if...
