As the story opens, Ariana Osgood notices Kaitlynn Nottingham's wedge sandals as soon as she sees her. Ariana immediately wonders where Kaitlynn got the money for such expensive shoes but quickly realizes she had given Kaitlynn the money. Ariana had stolen from her fellow college students at Atherton-Pryce Hall and had given the money to Kaitlynn.
