Part 3 Act 5 Scenes 7, 8, and 9 Summary

Scene 7 - As Peer hurries across the moors, he meets a Button Molder, who tells him that he's come to melt him down and use him in the creation of new life in the same way that old metal buttons are melted down and used in the creation of new ones. Peer protests that it's not his time, but the Button Molder tells him that "the Master" decides when it's time and no one else. He goes on to explain that if Peer were a really bad sinner he'd be sent to Hell, but because Peer's sins are relatively insignificant he's only going to be melted down.
