Scene 4 - Peer encounters a group of men attending the auction of the belongings of a dead woman. As the men discuss the items they've bought, including Peer's old ladle that he once used when he pretended to be a button molder and others belongings, it becomes clear that the dead woman was Ingrid, whom Peer kidnapped from her wedding when he was a boy, while the men are revealed to be some of the men who teased Peer at the wedding.
