Patsy

Patsy is a single mother in Jamaica who is discontent and discouraged with her situation. From a young age, Patsy had a great deal of intellectual potential, excelling at math in school. She won prizes, and would likely have gone on to greater academic achievements, but was held back from doing so when she helped Cicely cheat on a test. There is a sense that Patsy feels cheated by life. She loves her daughter, Tru, but has a great deal of internal conflict about her role as a mother. She constantly feels inadequate, shameful and guilty for her actions and inactions.
