A last gift from Britain is a trip home for the Ryans aboard the Concorde. Despite his fear of flying, Jack Ryan has a few moments aboard the concord that awe and amaze him. What he discovers that he likes the best is that the long and grueling flight over the ocean is reduced to a mere three and a half hours. On the ground Jack, Cathy and Sally are met by family friends, Oliver and Jean Tyler. They listen to Oliver's prattle about the rain and the development of the latest football game.
