Chapter 1, A Sunny Day In Londontown Summary

Patriot Games by Tom Clancy is a techno-thriller that pits former Marine and current Naval History instructor at the Naval Academy against the Ulster Liberation Army. Jack interferes with the ULA's kidnapping attempt against the Prince and Princess of Wales and their young son. As a former Marine, Ryan is able to prevent the terrorists from achieving their goal by killing one of the ambushers and wounding another who will ultimately stand trial for the operation. Clancy brings the world of the Irish patriots fighting for independence through terrorism to the reader. Terrorism is a worldwide problem, and Jack Ryan finds out just how personal this can be.
