Nephilim

Nephilim are the spawn of fallen angels and humans. Their magical abilities are clumsy at best, and they are generally not respected within the angelic world.

Star Shot

A star shot is the only weapon able to injure or kill a fallen angel. Star shots can also be used to separate two souls that have been cleaved together. At the end of the novel, Luce considers using a star shot to separate her cleaved soul from her cursed soul, which would also break her eternal bond with Daniel.

Louisville, Tennessee

Louisville is Lucinda Price's hometown. This is the setting of both the epilogue and the prologue which takes place in current time (2009).

Moscow, Russia

Moscow is the first place Luce visits when she begins traveling back in time. She visits Moscow in the height of the Second World War, where her past-self Luschka dies during a bombing of the city.
