Yin, China: 1046 BCE. Luce is still thinking about the glory of Daniel's soul as she exits from her Announcer into a vast bedroom with a young woman crying in the corner. The girl - Lu Xin (Luce's past self) - is standing over a dead man's body. Lu Xin doesn't ask Luce any questions, but demands that Luce help her hide the body, the body of the king. Lu Xin claims that the king - to whom she was betrothed - killed himself when he found out that Lu Xin loved another man, De (Daniel's past self). De was part of an uprising set to overthrow the king, and a revolutionary war was underway. As Luce and Lu Xin hide the king's body, Luce reaches over and embraces Lu Xin, cleaving their souls.
