Chapters 15 & 16 Summary

Chichen Itza, Mesoamerica: 555 CE. Luce lands on parched cracked earth when she tumbles from her Announcer. Everything is dried and barren, as if the land has never seen rain. Luce looks around for Bill and is frustrated that he has developed such an annoying habit of disappearing. When Luce's eyes adjust to the new setting, she is shocked and mortified to discover that she is standing near a wall of severed heads in various stages of decomposition. When she screams in horror, Bill suddenly returns to her side carrying clothes that belonged to Luce's past self - Ix Cuat.
