Pages 222-242 Summary

Paddy asks Sinbad if he likes his name, Sinbad. Sinbad, Francis, is suspicious of Paddy's actions. He doesn't really answer him whether he wants to be called Francis or Sinbad, so he calls him Francis. He also helps him get dressed that morning.

Paddy notices Charles Leavy at school more, and notices Kevin less and less. He watches his actions and imitates him. He talks like him.

Paddy is alone with Kevin and he asks him if his parents fight. Kevin replies that of course they fight. All parents fight. Paddy isn't sure if this relieves him or not. He doesn't want to ask any more questions though. He feels he has already pressed his luck with the personal question.

At home, objects are being thrown and smashed. The violence escalates. Paddy keeps a vigil outside.....
