Mark Brian

Mark Brian grew up in Canada. His hometown town is never clearly identified, but his sister (and only close living relative) lives in Victoria, B.C. Mark attended college before entering the seminary and is sent to the Village of Kingcome as his first assignment out of the seminary. Mark has some type of disease that is fatal, and he is expected to live only two to three years after graduating from the seminary. He does not know that until almost the end of the story. The bishop sends Mark to Kingcome with the hope that Mark can learn what he needs to know, in the amount of time that he has left. It is clear that the bishop cares a great deal for Mark and is sending him on a difficult assignment only because.....
