Chapters 20-21 Summary

New Every Morning. Esther goes on to explain that Mack won by one vote. Esther immediately calls the Board of Elections and requests a recount. The following day, Father Tim is walking past Sweet Stuff when Winnie asks him to come inside. Thomas Kendall has proposed to Winnie and he wants Father Tim's permission. Father Tim gives it happily. Later, Father Tim goes to city hall to wait with everyone else for the results of the recount. It comes out to be a tie, so the Election Board flips a coin, as it states they should in the town by-laws. The weeks pass and soon Thanksgiving has come and gone, moving them toward Christmas.
