Chapter 6

In Chapter 6, A Thousand Words, Sara calls Emma in the middle of the night from France. She is sobbing because she read an article in the New York Times that said that Jared was engaged. Emma looks the article up on her laptop and sees a picture of Jared Mathews holding onto the hand of a girl wearing an engagement ring. Emma also sees Jared’s brother, Evan, in the background of the photo with Catherine Jacobs on his arm. She is a girl who has also wanted Evan for herself, and the photo seems to show that she finally got him. Emma becomes sick at the sight of the picture.
