Summary

After returning to the city, John retreats inside himself. He feels exposed, unlovable, and pathetic. He goes home for the weekend and comes out to his parents, who are supportive and help him process his feelings. He then starts to come out to other members of his family, which validates the truth that they love him no matter what and his sexuality does not define him. He then comes out to his friends who are equally supportive and who are sorry about his heartache. As time goes on, John realizes that if he can have those strong feelings for Matt, maybe he could have them with other men.
