Act 3, Part 2 Summary

The Stage Manager sets the scene for Emily's trip back into her life - dawn of a new day after a night of snow. Emily rushes into Main Street, and rejoices in seeing the town she knew when she was a little girl. She sees her house the way it used to be, listens as Howie Newsome, Joe Crowell and the Policeman meet and gossip, and then suddenly hears Mrs. Webb calling her. Emily, commenting on how young her mother looks, moves back and forth between her twelve-year-old self and her dead self, and between watching what is going on and participating in it. As she does so, she comments with increasing surprise, loss, and panic.

Mr. Webb returns from covering a news story for his paper. He and Mrs. Webb greet.....
