Silas Wegg plans to bring Noddy Boffin down. He goes to see Mr. Venus, who is in a good mood. Wegg wants to get his artificial limb back from Venus. Venus says he is going to get married to Pleasant Riderhood. Wegg goes to see Boffin, and tries ordering him around. Boffin refuses to listen to him, and says they will not be making a deal. John Harmon tells him that his father made a later will, giving everything to the Boffins, and Noddy Boffin hid it because he thought it disparaged John Harmon's good name. They throw Wegg out of the house.

In Chapter 15, Bradley Headstone is distraught that he has lost Lizzie for good. Riderhood goes to see Bradley, planning to blackmail him with the clothes he wore the night he attacked Eugene Wrayburn. They meet later, alone, and Headstone says he doesn't have any money....
