Summary

In Chapter 9, August and Soro brought the infected soldier to a cell in the Compound. Listening to the soldier fight the demon in his mind in the interrogation room, Kate became concerned for her own sanity as the monster’s reach continued to spread in her mind. August brought Kate to his room. He told her how he had changed who he was to serve the FTF because he felt that his softness was not helping to protect the world. Kate told him that he had to hold on to his emotions, even if it hurt, and focus on what motivated him to keep fighting. August realized that Kate motivated him to keep going and he kissed her.
