Chapter 28 Summary

It is the last day of Cal and Beth's trip to Texas. Cal has finished third in the golf tournament. He and Beth are celebrating with Ward and Audrey. They have a conversation about vacationing next year, which ends up in an argument about Conrad. Beth says she would hate growing up with a father who breathes down her neck the way Cal does Conrad's. This comment makes Cal angry, and he drinks too much. The argument deteriorates into a huge fight. Beth accuses Cal of being obsessed with Conrad, moping, and being depressed. Beth tells Cal she believes he blames her for Conrad's suicide attempt. She also states that Conrad did it to manipulate her and to kill her too, and she says she will never forgive him for it. She is.....
