Chapter 25 Summary

Cal and Beth are in Texas, having an enjoyable visit with Beth's brother. Both of them feel happy about a chance to escape the issues at home for a while. On the plane, Cal had tried to talk with Beth about her conversation with Nancy, but she insisted that she did not want to talk, just to get away and have a good time. Cal has done well in the first round of the golf tournament, and is now in the lead going into the second day.

Beth's sister-in-law, Audrey, asks Cal how Conrad is doing; he responds that everything is fine. Audrey reveals that she tried to talk to Beth about it, but that Beth wouldn't talk. Cal thinks back to a night after Conrad entered the hospital, when he found Beth in.....
