Chapter 22 Summary

Conrad attends a swim meet and walks out with some of his old teammates afterward. He gets into an altercation with a boy named Stillman, who questions him about Jeanine and asks if he's had sex with her. A fight breaks out between the two of them, and Conrad leaves Stillman nursing a horrible bloody nose. Lazenby pulls Conrad and Stillman apart, then gets into Conrad's car to talk to him. He tells Conrad that they've been friends for a long time, and he still just doesn't understand what's wrong with him. He also tells Conrad that he misses Jordan, too. Conrad, echoing Karen, tells Lazenby that it's just too painful to be around him right now. Conrad then goes home and meticulously cleans up the blood from his body.....
