Conrad still has not informed his parents that he quit the swim team, so he must fill his hours after school by doing something else until it's time to go home. He walks around, goes to the library, and shops for Christmas presents. One morning before school, Conrad runs into Lazenby, who confronts him about quitting the swim team. Conrad tells him it was a bore. Lazenby then asks him if something is wrong; he says Conrad is acting funny. Conrad tells him that he overheard the conversation in the locker room.
