Summary

In Chapter 19, after Chinonso arrives back in Nigeria, he begins searching for Ndali. However, he can find no trace of her, and her family refuses to communicate with him. He learns from some acquaintances of hers that she moved away to the city of Lagos to finish her studies and begin working as a pharmacist. Chinonso finds some temporary lodging and worries that Ndali may have tired of waiting for him and may have married someone else. Chinonso was never able to contact Ndali after he was arrested. To give Chinonso hope, his chi makes him think of the Odyssey, in which Odysseus happily reunites with his wife after many years apart. Chinonso feels some hope, but he also feels deep anger towards Jamike and decides to kill him if he ever sees him again. Much to Chinonso’s surprise, he encounters Jamike later...
