Riggle Quick

Riggle Quick is the novel’s protagonist and narrator. He is a 17-year-old Caucasian boy. His first name is his mother’s maiden name. Riggle used to live in Texas, near the border of Mexico, with his mother and father. However, his father died in an automotive accident when Riggle was six years old, and two years later, Riggle’s mother killed herself due to grief and depression. Riggle was then sent to live in an orphanage that had very poor conditions. Eventually, his mother’s brother, Joe Riggle, agreed to assume guardianship over Riggle. Thus, Riggle moved to live with his uncle Joe in Indiana. Despite the fact that Joe is a drug addict and is sometimes physically abusive, Riggle is generally grateful for his living situation in Indiana. However, he prefers Texas’ weather and culture to those of Indiana.
