Anne marks her fourth year of sobriety during the month of July. She attempts to tell Sam what her life used to be like one night while she is nursing him. She recognizes that she is far from perfect, and that Sam's existence in her life is nothing short of a miracle. Pammy is tired, but otherwise seems to be doing fine. Anne, on the other hand, is an emotional wreck. When Pammy and her husband go away for a week, Anne is somewhat grateful for the break.
