Chapter 23-24 Summary

Leslie and Richard talk as they eat. Leslie says that everything is a metaphor and is there to teach them something. They talk about how the ocean consists of drops of water, some in the air, others under pressure, others vaporize, others condensing, etc. A city on their place mats, Los Angeles, is made of streets, with individuals deciding which streets to use and where to go. All trips exist already and people choose the ones they will take.

They look around at the people in the restaurant and at what they are doing. The older people are remembering their lifetimes while the younger ones are experiencing theirs. They decide that people are living mirrors of each other. Richard and Leslie still feel that they are the same people but they had seen what could happen in other life path.
