Point of View

This novel is narrated by three different first-person narrators: Maeve, Phoebe, and Knox. Each of these narrators has a unique view on the new gossip game that has been introduced at Bayview. These students are the ones who are targeted in the game and have “truths” revealed about them because they refuse to play along. Even though Knox is not given the opportunity to ask for a dare, he is targeted because the “truth” that is revealed about Maeve impacts Knox and his life at school more than it impacts Maeve.

Phoebe’s point of view is important to the story because she can document Emma’s spiral from a studious, tight-laced student to one who almost dies of alcohol poisoning.
