Summary

Chapter 10 is narrated by Maeve. Maeve refuses to respond to the text inviting her to play the Truth or Dare game because she believes it makes light of what happened to Simon. Meanwhile, Maeve has been noticing large, unexplainable bruises, another sign that her cancer is back. She calls her doctor’s office, but hangs up when she finds out that she cannot even have tests to determine her remission status without her parents’ consent.

Luis interrupts Maeve’s bad mood by telling her that he is taking her outside. When Luis tells Maeve that he wanted to ask her to go on a date with him the previous year, she does not say that she wishes he had asked her, but instead gives a flip answer.
