Summary

Because of the El Nino in Peru, the weather in New Mexico is especially rainy the first few months of the school year. As a result, the narrator decides to take the bus to school, however it does not let him off at the school and he must walk several miles anyway, making him late. When he gets home after school, his dad takes him in his car and shows him it is only 1.2 miles to the school from their apartment, and that he does not want any calls from the school again about him being late.
