Elmsbrook

Elmsbrook is the town where Silver and his family live. Elmsbrook is a small town back east, a place big enough so Silver is somewhat anonymous, but small enough that his ex-wives fiancée is his doctor. Silver feels like something of an outsider in Elmsbrook, especially the part of town where he once lived with his wife and daughter, but he continues to live there.

The Versailles

The Versailles was once a hotel that was renovated into an apartment building. Although the Versailles rents its apartments to all types of people, it has gained a reputation for being the refuge of men on the verge of, or still reeling from, the consequences of a divorce. Silver has lived there since losing his home to foreclosure in the aftermath of his divorce more than seven years ago.
