Summary

Chapter 10 discusses Quig’s life before living in the compound. He had a normal Charter life, and was educated in veterinarian medicine. He married a woman named Glynnis, and they had a daughter named Trish. Pets were highly regarded in the Charters and Quig made a great living until an outbreak of a hemorrhagic fever crossed from animals to humans. Domestic animals were put down and Quig lost his practice. Quig and Glynnis took other jobs to try and make ends meet. Eventually, Glynnis started selling the leftover veterinary drugs on the black market. They were caught, tried, and convicted, which resulted in their banishment from the charter.
