Summary

The final panel of page 18 is the first panel in the next scene. Valerian's clone is on a street car, about to disembark. On the next page, Valerian's clone reveals that he is in Chinatown, San Francisco, in 1895. He lights a cigar and says the town is “nice” just as a biker on a motorcycle drives through (19). He calls that an anachronism, and goes on his way.

Aboard the spaceship, Jadna asks Laureline for an update on the progress of Valerian's clone. Laureline says he is nearing the “secret meeting” (19). Laureline and Jadna watch their screen and see Valerian's clone order men to raise their hands. He urges Laureline to hurry just as a voice says, “New action follows. Immediate destruction of external threat” (20). Jadna indicates they have the coordinates and tells Laureline to stop watching. Laureline says Valerian's clone has been hurt...
