Mrs. Maylie's son, Harry, comes to visit. He has been worried about Rose. He is in love with Rose, and wishes to see her. He asks Mrs. Maylie if Rose is in love with anyone else, and Mrs. Maylie assures him that she is not. She tells Harry that there may be some problems with he and Rose being together because of the stain on Rose's name.
