Chapters 13 and 14 Summary

Michel is on the computer online trading with Leah's inheritance. Leah wants to get on the Internet, but Michel tells her she has to wait until he's done. While Leah waits, she smokes three cigarettes. She overhears one of the neighbors yelling at her children. Then, Leah sees Colin Hanwell, her dead father appear near her house. When he approaches, they talk about her dog, Olive, and Leah's happiness. Michel announces the computer is free.

As Leah walks through her neighborhood, she notices how it has deteriorated over the years. When Leah spots Shar, she notices she has a black eye that has turned into a yellow bruise. Shar's eye is weeping uncontrollably. When Leah walks up to Shar, Shar admits she stole her money and that she's a drug addict. Leah tries to offer Shar help for the drugs and...
