Leah is thinking about an apple tree. She is relating to the apple tree—how it grows and blooms; hibernates for the season; and then blooms one again. Michel wants to move forward. he keeps talking about buying their own home.

Leah is at work. She's thinking about how she is the only white woman in a sea of black women from various African countries. She's hiding her pregnancy from her co-workers as well as her family.
