Summary

In Chapter 15, Nora brings Poe to visit a cave where she and Lily used to play house, and Nora describes how their father used to encourage them to do the “Cave Challenge” (212) to see who could stay in the longest while the cave filled with water (212). When they go home, Poe thanks Nora and hugs her. In the kitchen, Sharon and Nora discuss Nora's father, and Sharon ends the conversation with the line, “You’ve had twenty years [to reconcile things]” (215).

The dinner at Nora's house is a failure, although comical, with Sharon, Bob, Sullivan, Mr. Carver, Jake, and Amelia Ames attending (Gloria cancelled). Some of the darker moments of the dinner are when Amelia passes out on Nora’s bed, later vomiting on Luke’s shirt, and when Mr. Carver pulls his car from dock and runs over a deer. Nora is...
