Summary

Chapter 11 opens at the clinic, where Nora is hired by Dr. Ames, owner of the clinic, to be a fill-in doctor. Nora is invited to lunch by two employees of the clinic, Gloria and Ellen. At the restaurant, Nora sees Amy Beckman, who greets her coldly. After lunch, Nora goes to the general store to get a package Lily has sent her. There, she sees Luke and Sully’s mom who says, upon handing Nora her package,“Your sister might be in jail, but she’s worth twenny of you” (160). Nora then goes to the flower shop and buys some plants, where she bumps into Luke. When he sees Nora he is nasty and calls her, “troll” (161) and tells her to stay away from his family. He also states, “I fucked your sister” (161) and when the conversation ends, Nora is shaking. Later on...
