Structure

No Visible Bruises is divided into three Parts plus a preface. Each of the three sections deals with one of the book’s main topics, which also each correlate to one of its themes. Part One focuses on the experience of the victim and addresses the common question of why victims stay in abusive relationships. Part Two focuses on the opposite side of the equation by looking at the psychology of the abuser as well as whether and how he can be reformed into a nonviolent person. Part Three is about the changemakers who are working to improve society’s responses to domestic violence and to better support victims.
