Brushy Mountain Road winds high up the mountain above the rest of the town of Pinewood, North Carolina. Brushy Mountain Road is where the rich elites of town, mostly white, all live. The physical elevation of the place is a reminder of their upper level of class distinction. It allows those who are self-made, like JJ, to see from where they have come.
