Summary

Chapter 27, Zoe, is written from Zoe’s perspective. Zoe looks at her father and sees that tears are coming down his face. She wonders if he knows this. Then she thinks about how her family will never seem to recover from Zach’s death and the nature of grief. She tries to convince herself that she and Zach were not close.

Chapter 28, Heather, is written from Heather’s perspective. Heather does not see Napoleon's tears because she is busy thinking of an incident that had happened during the previous week. She is a midwife and thought of Zach as she usually did after delivering babies. Then she saw a boy who had played soccer with Zach and his mother.
