Summary

Chapter 8 takes place in Cork, Ireland, in the month of January, in the year 2000. Maurice and Charlie were in an all-night bar in Cork at about 4 a.m. The bar was called the Judas Iscariot. A large portion of the bar’s clientele was comprised of criminals. The bartender was named Nelson Lavin. Other patrons of the bar that night were a burglar named Vincent Keogh, a cocaine dealer named Steve Bromell, and a brothel-owner named Jimmy Earls. Maurice and Charlie sat at a table, talking animatedly but quietly to each other. Nelson conversed with some of the patrons, and they wondered about the content of Maurice and Charlie’s conversation.
