Summary

Andrea and her friend Matt arrived at the Lowell’s farm for the annual blueberry party. Andrea had been invited as her father had worked at the Lowell’s farm her whole life and they had asked him to cater with his taco truck. Andrea decided to go to the party, thinking “if the Lowells wanted Mexicans at their party, that’s what they’d get” (Location 2247). She went with intentions of shaming the Lowells, angry that they were using her dad’s taco truck “to provide a little kitsch” (Location 2369). She brought Matty for support and confidence and because she had been in love with him for years. He does not understand why she would go to this party after belittling the family to him. She wanted to go as she now felt their equal, being a Stanford student just like the daughter...
