Summary

After taking a cab back to the Rodriguez house, Marisol recounts the day’s events to Ana, Caridad, and Cristina.

The next morning, Luis is still gone, and Marisol walks to Pablo’s home. When she meets him, he tells her that the government is attempting to charge Luis with “social dangerousness,” worth several years in prison to prevent someone from committing a crime in the future (294). Pablo is trying to get him out, but it’s complicated, and all Marisol can do is wait.

While she is waiting, Marisol joins the women working in the paladar. Ana is worried with Marisol. Someone pounds on the front door, and the two women rush to answer it. Luis and Pablo are on the other side, Luis badly wounded.
