Summary

In Chapter 32, narrated by Lindsey, the time moves forward to March of 2017. Lindsey and Sophie are spending spring break with Marcus at his lake house. Lindsey and Marcus have been dating for two months. Lindsey has noticed the decorations in the house have a feminine flair and thinks about Marcus’ wife, Kathryn, and his daughter, Katie. She feels like she is intruding.

In Chapter 33, narrated by Sophie, Sophie thinks about how she fought with Jared because she felt like he was taking over her life. She told Jared she needed some space. Jared grabbed her arm as he begged her not to decide right then that they were finished. The following day, Jared had begged Sophie to talk to him but she told him the more he pushed the more pressured she felt. Later, Jared texted Sophie and said he was done.
