Chapter 24 Summary

Mowat's problem of getting back to civilization is solved one day when Ootek sees a plane circling the skies. Mowat starts up his smoke machines and the plane lands on the lake near Mike's cabin. Mowat learns that his Department has become concerned about him - and the four thousand dollars worth of equipment - and has sent out search parties for him. However, this pilot is a prospector, who will not take him home, but will notify his department of his whereabouts.

Before leaving the Wolf House Bay area, Mowat decides to undertake one more area of study; the dimensions of the abandoned wolf den. When he reaches the den, Farley squeezes through the narrow entranceway and down an eight foot slope. The entranceway slopes upward into the den and Mowat, who cannot.....
