Summary

The following day, after Joana woke up in the middle of the night and spoke tenderly to Otávio, she receives a note from Lídia, who invites her over to talk later that afternoon. Immediately, Joana senses that Lídia is already in a relationship with Otávio, and also senses that her relationship with Otávio is about to end. The two begin with a bunch of small talk and, in a pause in the conversation, Joana suddenly says: “’Well […] I believe the interview is over’” (141).
