November Summary and Analysis

Counter-intelligence funds have been sharply reduced to a pound per week per section member. But the money won't matter in the end. Informants do not inform based on money but values and social status. Later Lattarullo calls with news on black market operators. He appears leaner and hungrier than usual. As they walk together in the city, Naples feels like it is still tumbling apart. Few shops are open, and the restaurant they go to has little food and does not keep out the starving.
