An added bonus is that Erickson interjects personal stories from his life, including experiences with the Erickson children that show the doctor practiced what he preached.

Rosen's contribution to the book also allows the reader to see that Erickson's work may have been controversial at one time, considered to be almost shamanic by certain colleagues but eventually, the proof of its relevance and effectiveness gave the doctor credibility.
